Technological Goals

Rather than creating a system that tries to do everything including the kitchen sink, Project Aurora focuses on dance itself and accomplishing harmonious co-existence between the performer and the technology. In the process of discovering the fundamental elements, essential features such as size reduction and durability of components are evaluated and implemented. The result is a system that is inherently adapted to the needs of a dancer while minimizing any physical impact on movement.

Through the use of advanced conductive textiles and ultra-miniaturization of components, a system capable of complete motion measurement and data transmission is achieved at a weight of less than a few ounces. Only in its initial phases of system miniaturization, the team hopes to further reduce component size to the point of invisibility for the long term goal of integration of the technology into everyday life.
