Acceptance to Monaco Dance Forum September 15, 2004Project Aurora is pleased to announce its acceptance into Monaco Dance Forum 2004. We will be premiering our most current work, ShadowPuppets, and also present a live demonstration of our latest wearable performance system.
Technological Presentation
Project Aurora works to create technological solutions that complement the artistic process and augment the performance of a dancer. The latest system, composed of sensory devices embedded within the fabric of a leotard, dynamically communicates with visual elements, creating a direct link between the real and the virtual. Aesthetically, it is designed with the dancer's comfort in mind and also has the technological flexibility to enhance the artist's creative vision.
ShadowPuppets
ShadowPuppets explores the relationship between a person directed by the confines of society and their rebellious counterpart, represented by the dancer's shadow. The performer dynamically manipulates the visual projection of her virtual shadow through gestures and movement. In this current undertaking, the dancer utilizes Project Aurora's latest leotard-based motion sensing system, incorporating embedded electronic devices and conductive textiles, to create a previously intangible relationship.
